5. What’s included in the recurring service?
Recurring cleanings include:
- Hood system degreasing
- Exhaust fan cleaning
- Duct and plenum inspections
- Photo documentation and service reporting
- Priority scheduling + annual compliance check
6. What is NFPA 96 and why does it matter?
NFPA 96 is the national standard for ventilation control and fire protection in commercial cooking operations. Staying compliant isn’t just smart — it’s required. We help you meet those standards with every visit.
7. How does the Platinum Standard work?
If you’re outside our current zone, you can join this tier for free. You’ll be the first to know when we schedule service in your area — and you’ll get a discount on your first clean.
8. How often should I schedule hood cleanings?
It depends on your kitchen type and usage. NFPA 96 suggests:
- High-volume kitchens: Monthly
- Medium use: Quarterly
- Low-volume/seasonal: Bi-annually
We’ll help you determine what fits your kitchen best.
9. Do you offer emergency or rush service?
We prioritize Gold Tier clients for emergency service. If you’re facing a shutdown or inspection issue, contact us directly and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
10. How do I refer another business?
You can refer a business through our contact form or email. If they complete a service, we’ll thank you with a credit or cash reward (referral program launching soon).
11. What does “clean to bare metal” mean in NFPA 96?
NFPA 96 requires hood and duct systems to be cleaned to bare metal — meaning all grease, residue, and flammable buildup must be fully removed. Partial cleaning or surface wiping doesn’t meet the standard and can leave your kitchen at risk.
12. How do I know if my system is NFPA 96 compliant?
You’ll need:
- Proof of professional cleaning
- Photo documentation of each cleaning
- A service certificate posted visibly in the kitchen
- Cleanings done at the frequency required by NFPA 96 (monthly, quarterly, etc.)
Elite Pressure Pros provides all of this — every single time.
13. What if I don’t have access panels in my ductwork?
NFPA 96 requires access panels every 12 feet and at turns or changes in direction so that the entire duct system can be cleaned.
If your system lacks proper access, we’ll assess and can recommend an installer so your kitchen stays compliant.
14. Are rooftop grease containment systems required?
Yes — under NFPA 96, rooftop fan systems must include grease containment to prevent flammable grease from dripping onto the roof surface.
We inspect containment systems during every service and can recommend upgrades if yours is outdated or missing.
15. What’s the difference between NFPA 96 cleaning and a “basic hood wash”?
A compliant cleaning under NFPA 96 includes:
- The hood canopy
- Filters
- Plenums
- All accessible ductwork
- The fan
- Photo documentation + certification.
A basic “hood wash” often skips ductwork and fans, which leaves your kitchen non-compliant and exposed to risk.
16. What documentation do I need for fire inspectors?
After each cleaning, you should have:
- A dated cleaning certificate posted near the system
- Before and after photos of the system
- A service report noting any deficiencies, repairs, or recommendations
